If you ever wanted to get excited about politics in Mississippi, it’s time. We have an exciting field of candidates to fill Mississippi’s Congressional seats from all Districts and the Senate. The next few weeks leading up to the Senatorial Primary on June 5th will be filled with getting our message to all citizens of Pearl River county. Our first endeavor will be our informational booth at the Picayune Street Fair April 6 & 7. Volunteers are needed to man the booth on both days. Please consider taking an hour or two. It’s fun!
Next up, the Federation of Democratic Women’s Spring Yard Sale will be Saturday, April 14 from 8 – 3. Volunteers and sale items are needed. If you can help on either count, please contact Agnes or Ruthie at the numbers below.
May 19th brings our Ice Cream Social which will provide the citizens of Pearl River County an opportunity to meet our 4th Congressional Candidate Jeramey Anderson, and our Senatorial candidates as well. We are also designing a PRC shirt that we can where to our events. Again, if you are interested, please contact Ruthie.
This is an exciting time in Mississippi this federal election season. And if that is not enough, former Secretary of Agriculture Mike Espy has announced his candidacy for the Senate seat being vacated by Thad Cochran. This candidacy will thrust Mississippi into the national spotlight since Pres. Bill Clinton has agreed to be a part of Sec. Espy’s campaign. At the recent Mississippi Democratic Party meeting in Jackson, Espy revealed that other high profile individuals will be joining his campaign.
Yes, this is going to be an exciting elections season and one we hope will catapult us into statewide wins in 2019. If you need assistance with Democratic Party issues, please contact Agnes Dalton at 601-746-6020 or rockman1935.aol.com. The future rewards those who press on. I don’t have time to feel sorry for myself. I don’t have time to complain. I’m going to press on. – President Barack Obama
Rep. Jeramey Anderson is now the democratic nominee for United States Congress, MS-04.
This CAMPAIGN isn’t about electing a REPREStENTIVE in name only. It’s about electing REPRESENTATION for YOUR VOICE always!

There were questions earlier as to whether the Democratic Party would qualify viable candidates for federal offices this year. That has been answered with a resounding YES!
This is the new Mississippi Democratic Party.
Following a very successful fundraising year, we have seen a renewed excitement in Mississippians who are universally tired of the same old politics. Democratic candidates offer a distinct difference to other parties candidates.
Democrats continue to ask ‘if the breadwinner loses their job today can they find a new one tomorrow right here at home’? When students graduate, will they find a job at home? If the answer is no then it’s time to join with Democrats who have plans to fix those problems.
The Republican leadership in DC and Jackson have failed our Mississippi economy. Our roads and bridges are in shambles, infrastructure is crumbling and cuts to healthcare and education force higher taxes at the local level on working families. There are fewer jobs in Mississippi today than after the 2007 Great Recession.
There is less money in our state’s coffers because Republican leadership has an institutional problem of giving away our tax dollars to their corporate buddies in the form of special tax break legislation and outright grants. These corporate donors will be the same ones scratching the backs of Republican candidates this season in the form of political contributions.
Democrats stand ready to answer questions truthfully because they offer logical and reasonable solutions to government problems. No spinning here! We encourage everyone, whether Democratic, Republican, or independent – those who want a real change in government – to step forward and vote in the Democratic Party primary on Tuesday, June 5th.
On Friday, February 23, 2018 our party lost a true friend. Pat has been fighting a terrible disease for a long time and now it is time for her to rest. She served her church, her community, her 4-H club and our Pearl River County Democrats. She was a good friend to all of us and will be terribly missed.
Services for Pat will be Friday, March 2 at Hart’s Chapel Church in Derby. Viewing is 10 – 11 a.m. Service to follow at 11 a.m. Repast will be at the church.
