Starting at 8 a.m. Saturday morning, 44 Democratic activists representing 10 counties kicked off a two day workshop on precinct organizing. Two hours in, and everyone is fully engaged, learning and sharing.
Every participant paid $50 to be here, and the entire event is organized, managed and funded by local volunteers.
Nine months out from the general election, on a cold January weekend in the spartan accommodations of a state park, Democrats have rolled up our sleeves and have gotten deadly serious about organizing and cooperating in Southeast Mississippi. It is truly a new day.
